Malvarrosa is situated to the north of the port and is probably one of the most famous stretches of beach in Valencia. As well as being home to some of the city's best nightlife, Malvarrosa is surprisingly clean for a city beach and is perfect for sports lovers with cycle paths, volleyball nets and beach rugby pitches all along this strip of coast. In the summer the beach and port area really comes to life, especially at night with popular outdoor discos such as Akuarela and Luna Rosa situated on the sea front. Every year Malvarrosa hosts an airplane festival, El Festival Aereo Ciudad de Valencia, where crowds gather on the beach to watch national and international planes fly.
